Endless Summer…

This is a quick one.  I had so much planned to share here over the past few weeks but we are experiencing an endless heat wave this summer.  I know we aren’t the only ones either.  The average temperature in our home is around 30 degrees although last evening it hit 34,2 (that’s 93 and a half farenheit) degrees in my kitchen.  This happens when you live on the top floor in Europe, I guess.  Of course there is no such thing as air-conditioned homes here, unless, that is you have quite a lot of money as electricity is about 30 percent more expensive here as in the States.  Fans are sold out here too, although I do have one that I can turn on now and then, but again, it runs up our electric.

Please don’t get me wrong, I am not complaining but trying to embrace this season.  I find ways to stay as cool as possible during the day although outside isn’t always too pleasant either.  I have been spending time reading in the shade,  swimming at the Danube, and yes, even went to the hockey arena to watch an open practice today. One of the very few air-conditioned public places around.  It was ice heaven!!

With that said, it’s too hot to even open the laptop and the heat even seems to be affecting my tablet.  According to the latest weather report, week three of this heat wave continues on, they haven’t said yet when it will end.

So it is with a bit of sadness, I need to take a break from this blog journey of mine, until the temperature drops a little.

I am off to pour another glass of refreshing ice tea and head back into the garden with a new book.  This time I am going to attempt reading a Danielle Steel book in German.  Hope you find a bit of enjoyment and relief during this summer heat.

Until cooler weather…
